It Seems Wednesday Season 2 Will Grant Fans’ Biggest Wishes

Fans of Tim Burton’s Wednesday eagerly await Season 2, and it appears that their wishes are about to come true. The show’s costume designer, Colleen Atwood, unintentionally spilled some intriguing details about the upcoming season.

Wednesday became a global sensation upon its debut in 2022, making Season 2 one of the most highly anticipated Netflix releases. As the release date for Wednesday Season 2 remains a mystery, fans have been crafting their own theories about what lies ahead for Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. Many are hoping to see more of the main character’s family in the next season. In an interview with Variety, Atwood seemed to confirm this possibility while discussing Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia and her wardrobe for the upcoming season.

Atwood mentioned that Morticia will have a more diverse selection of outfits in Season 2, including casual attire. She stated, “In season 2 she’ll have a lot of looks, so it will be really fun to see what Morticia does when she’s out of the dress and into around-the-house looks.” This implies that Season 2 will be primarily set in the Addams Family mansion, where Wednesday’s parents might play more significant roles.

The Addams Family mansion was only briefly seen in Season 1. It made appearances in Episode 1 when Wednesday mourned her pet scorpion Nero and in Episode 8 when Ms. Addams returned home after resolving the issues with Marilyn Thornhill and Hyde.

Atwood also discussed the creation of Morticia’s iconic dress in Season 1, highlighting her enjoyment of working within a limited color palette, a signature of the Addams family’s fashion. She emphasized how black and white, while restrictive, offered creative opportunities to combine the two colors in unique ways, resulting in different visual effects. Interestingly, Morticia’s dress underwent multiple iterations, including one made from leather, before it was perfected with Catherine Zeta-Jones’ input.

While all eight episodes of Wednesday Season 1 are available for streaming on Netflix, Season 2 is still awaiting an official release date.
