Director confirms no immediate plans for Big Hero 6 2

Don Hall, co-director of the upcoming movie “Strange World,” has confirmed that there are no immediate plans for a sequel to “Big Hero 6.” Hall, known for his successful work on Disney films like “Moana” and “Raya & the Last Dragon,” directed “Big Hero 6” in 2014, which introduced the beloved character Baymax to audiences worldwide.

Despite the popularity of “Big Hero 6,” fans have eagerly anticipated news of a sequel. However, Hall revealed in an interview with ComicBook.com that there have been no discussions about a theatrical follow-up to the animated hit. He humorously mentioned, “I’ve had my hands full with this movie [Strange World], we literally just finished it. I’m looking forward to taking a little break and letting my brainy brain rest. So no, there’s been no discussions about that.”

In the meantime, Disney Plus has launched the series “Baymax,” focusing on the adventures of Hiro, Cass, and Baymax outside of the Big Hero 6 superhero team. Each episode features Baymax attempting to remedy various ailments afflicting the residents of San Fransokyo, showcasing the unique abilities of the healthcare companion.

“Big Hero 6” drew inspiration from the Marvel comics of the same name, with characters like GoGo, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred originating from the comic series. In the comics, Baymax is portrayed as a synthetic bodyguard capable of transforming into a dragon. The film notably featured the hit song “Immortals” by Fall Out Boy.

The conclusion of “Big Hero 6” left viewers intrigued, especially regarding Fred’s character, as his father bore a striking resemblance to the iconic Stan Lee and hinted at a hidden superhero past.
