Katara probably won’t be the Avatar, however that doesn’t mean she’s a write-off. Here’s how she’s one of the strongest Avatar characters.
1. She Became A Waterbending Master Within A Year
Mastering the elements takes a lifetime to do. Now, think about how Aang managed to get a good handle on all four elements within a year, give or take a few weeks. Now think about Katara, the GOAT, who learned how to waterbend and became the youngest master by herself with very little guidance.
2. She Has Goals Of Her Own That Don’t Tie-In With A Boy’s
Her goals are to become a great Waterbending master and help her friends win the war against the Fire Nation. Those goals aren’t just admirable, they have nothing to do with a boy. Sure, Aang is the Avatar and she’s helping him win the war, but she’d do that whether Aang or Zuko were involved or not because it’s the right thing to do. She’s not a manic pixie dream girl to anyone, she’s a fully realized person.
3. She Influenced An Entire Generation As An Example
More than anything, Katara didn’t simply impact the made up world she lives in, she affected an entire age of young ladies and ladies who saw themselves on TV, frequently interestingly. She was a full grown character who was light-years somewhat radical considering the way that many individuals thought kid’s shows weren’t a wellspring of good narrating grown-ups could get behind. We can say that this character is powerful not because of her role within the story, but her role in the real world as well.
