Funko has recently announced their anime-themed releases for the day, and Inuyasha fans are excited to see the first proper wave of Inuyasha Pop figures in quite some time. Despite being an iconic series that may be past its prime, it continues to find new fans with each passing year.
For those who are unfamiliar with the series, Inuyasha is a popular manga and anime created by Rumiko Takahashi for Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 1996. The story follows high school girl Kagome Higurashi, who is transported to feudal Japan through a magical well. There, she discovers her connection to a late priestess named Kikyo and is charged with protecting the Sacred Jewel, a powerful artifact that grants immense power to whoever possesses it. To aid her in her quest, Kagome teams up with a half-demon named Inuyasha, who desires the jewel’s power for himself.
Throughout the series, Kagome and Inuyasha embark on a journey through Japan to collect the pieces of the Sacred Jewel, facing numerous obstacles and enemies along the way. The manga was adapted into a successful anime series that ran for several years and covered the entire run of the manga. In addition, a sequel series titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon aired from October 2020 to March 2022, which follows the story of Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter, Moroha, as well as the daughters of other characters from the original series.
