Disney+ Announces ‘Monsters at Work’ Season 2 for 2023
Monsters at Work, the series set in the world of Monstropolis, is set to return with a second season on Disney Plus in 2023. The announcement was made through an official tweet from Disney Plus. The tweet featured a video montage from the first season, highlighting every instance the number two was mentioned. The video concluded with on-screen text confirming the arrival of ‘Monsters at Work Season 2’ in 2023.
The first season of Monsters at Work brought back beloved characters like Sully (John Goodman), Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), and Celia Mae (Jennifer Tilly), while introducing new additions such as Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), Val Little (Mindy Kaling), Fritz (Henry Winkler), and Duncan P. Anderson (Lucas Neff).
Serving as a sequel to the original 2001 film, Monsters, Inc., the series follows Tylor Tuskmon, a recent graduate of Monsters University, as he aims to become a professional jokester in a company transitioning from scaring to comedy. Although specific details about Season 2’s plot remain undisclosed, fans can anticipate the return of their favorite characters and more laughs.
Monsters, Inc., released in 2001, garnered critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Its success led to a 3D re-release in 2012, the prequel Monsters University in 2013, and now its own television series set shortly after the original film. The first season of Monsters at Work received mixed reviews, with some fans and critics noting differences from the original but still appreciating the new characters.
Monsters at Work is one of several Pixar-based shows on Disney+, alongside Dug Days (based on Up) and the upcoming Cars on the Road (from the Cars franchise), scheduled for release in the coming months. However, unlike other Pixar-related shows on the platform, Monsters at Work is produced by Disney Television Animation.
The series, developed by Bobs Gannaway, features a star-studded voice cast including Feldman, Crystal, Goodman, Kaling, Winkler, Neff, and Alanna Ubach. Season 2 will be executive produced by Emmy Award winner Kevin Deters, ensuring the return of the talented cast.
Fans can currently stream Season 1 of Monsters at Work on Disney Plus.
