“Despicable Me” is surprisingly delightful

We wanted to express our appreciation for the Tropic Cinema’s Summer Kid Club Movies, generously sponsored by the Key West Art & Historical Society. These screenings offer an excellent opportunity for youngsters to escape the scorching summer heat and enjoy an entertaining movie in the cool comfort of an air-conditioned theater.

Up next on the lineup at the Tropic is the delightful animated gem, “Despicable Me,” a heartwarming tale centered around the adventures of the seemingly dastardly but endearing mastermind, Gru. Voiced with impeccable comedic charm by the talented Steve Carell, Gru is the epitome of an unconventional protagonist, showcasing a blend of wit, humor, and unexpected tenderness.
