Debunking the false claims about Disney and Pixar making a movie about the El Culiacanazo:
Claims have been circulating on social media suggesting that Disney and Pixar are creating a children’s animated film based on the arrest and release of Mexican crime boss Ovidio Guzmán, son of the infamous drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán.
Various posters for this supposed movie have gone viral, with one of them showing men with exaggerated moustaches and sombreros wielding guns from cars. The netizen also claimed that Disney and Pixar are producing movies called Wachicol and Tlatelolco. However, it’s essential to clarify that these claims are entirely false.
Despite these rumors spreading widely across social media, Disney and Pixar are not working on a Culiacanazo movie. There has been no official press release or statement from these production houses, and it’s reasonable to conclude that this film is not in production. It’s possible that these movie posters were created by individuals using artificial intelligence.
This isn’t the first time that fake Disney and Pixar movie posters have surfaced online. There have been previous rumors about Pixar releasing a movie inspired by George Floyd, which also turned out to be false. Similarly, claims of Disney and Pixar making an animated film about Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust circulated online with AI-generated posters.
Given the prevalence of fake posters and misleading information on social media, it’s essential to verify such news through credible news sources and official announcements.
The term “Culiacanazo” refers to the Battle of Culiacán, which occurred in Sinaloa, Mexico. Ovidio “El Raton” Guzman, the son of El Chapo, was apprehended on October 17, 2019. His arrest led to violent protests by members of the Sinaloa Cartel, including torching vehicles and freeing prison inmates. Guzman was subsequently released during the intense battle. However, he was arrested again in January 2023, resulting in a confrontation in which 30 people were killed. During a recent court hearing, Guzman pleaded not guilty to drug-related charges.
