“Sword Art Online Commemorates Game Launch on November 6, 2022 with an Opening Video

To celebrate the release of the game on November 6, 2022, Sword Art Online: Full Dive event has unveiled an opening video. In the original anime and light novel series, the survival death game known as Sword Art Online opened its servers on November 6, 2022. You can watch the new video below: The video features Kayaba Akihiko (voiced by Koichi Yamadera) and Rinko Kojiro (voiced by Sanae Kobayashi) engaging in a conversation. Kayaba discusses his dream of a floating castle that players can only reach by climbing 99 stairs. This dream is the very reason behind his creation of Aincrad, which he explains in episode 14 of the Sword Art Online series.

Studio Gram handled the animation for the video, while A-1 Pictures was responsible for the production. Sword Art Online: Full Dive serves as the main event for the franchise’s 10th-anniversary celebration, taking place today. The event includes appearances by the anime’s cast, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito), Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna), Miyuki Sawahiro (Sinon), Rina Hidaka (Silica), and more. Some of the anime’s theme song performers, such as ReoNa, Eir Aoi, and ASCA, are also in attendance.

The Sword Art Online franchise reached its 10th anniversary on July 8, 2022. It has seen multiple seasons and four movies over the past decade. Tomohiko Ito directed seasons 1 and 2, as well as the movies Sword Art Online: Extra Edition and Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. The entire Alicization arc was directed by Manabu Ono, while Ayako Kono is currently directing the Progressive movies. Studio A-1 Pictures has animated all of the series.

The anime is based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novel series. ASCII Media Works has been publishing the series with illustrations by abec since 2009, and it currently consists of 27 volumes with over 30 million copies in circulation. The same publisher is also serializing a spin-off light novel titled Sword Art Online: Progressive, which focuses on the events in Aincrad not depicted in the original series due to a time skip. The spin-off has eight volumes available. Yen Press is publishing the original Sword Art Online light novel series in English.
